Beyond the well-trodden tourist routes to Everest and Annapurna, there are few hidden valleys. One of such is the Kingdom of Mustang. Mustang was opened to foreigners only in the 1990’s, and it has maintained a century old monarchy until 2008. In Mustang, you can see the residents preserving the Tibetan way of life in terms of their dress, language and Buddhist religion. Mustang is divided into two parts - Upper and Lower Mustang. The Upper Mustang is known as one of the best preserved, diverse and spectacular beautiful region in the world. The landscape is mostly noted for its fantastically-eroded sandstone cliffs, punctuated by green fields of wheat, barley and buckwheat.
