Our trek takes us along sub-tropical gorges and airy ridge-tops, through ancient forests of rhododendron and oak woods and alpine thick of blue and silver pine, to high yak pastures and beyond to the snowy moraines of the high Himalayas. From the north base camp there are stunning, close-up views of the giant north face of Kangchenjunga (8598m), 'The Five Treasures of the Great Snow', the world's third highest mountain, whilst the view of its enormous south face from Oktang, is no less magnificent.

Continue the drive to the small town of TAPLEJUNG bazaar (2438m) in about 5 hours and trek to the PHURAMA (2300m) in 3 hours.
